3.     How does it tie into the Intershop infrastructure?

Matador is a cartridge that runs in tandem with the Intershop ecommerce engine. Both Intershop and Matador use the same fully functional enterprise level SyBase database. This is one of the main reasons that Intershop is a leader in ecommerce solutions, because  it comes with an enterprise level database allowing it to scale. Caliber Design’s Matador software runs on the same SyBase database and uses all of the same customer, order, and inventory tables that Intershop does and adds additional tables to the database to provide the additional functionality.
